The CLL Second XI played Bolton League Second XI at Kearsley CC on 16 September. The Bolton League were 170 all out and the CLL had made 40-5 when rain stopped play. The Warburton Cup is therefore shared this year.
 
The Roydes Trophy was also decided last Sunday, at Radcliffe CC. Radcliffe made 188 all out and Unsworth were 122-5 when the rain intervened. Radcliffe were declared winners on better run rate. Man of the match was Gull Zada with 85 runs.
 
The Lancashire & Cheshire Junior Inter-League Competition Final was held at Greenfield CC on the same day. CLL Under 15s were 129 all out, losing to Lancashire County League (133-6).
 
Lastly, the Derbyshire & Cheshire League Inter-League (Peaks Trophy) Final was held at Heaton Mersey CC. CLL Under 13s scored 268-6 off 40 overs beating Cheshire County League Under 13s (219-9 off their 40 overs).

Final Junior tables added.
 
The CLL Under 15s (182-6) won the LCB Michael Roche Competition beating the Merseyside Youth Competition (180 all out) in the final at Middleton C.C. on 28 August.
 
The CLL Colts (176 all out) won the J W Lees Inter-League Competition Colts Section beating the North Lancashire & Cumbria League (167-9) at Middleton C.C. on 27 August. Man of the match was D White (North Lancs & Cumbria League) with 9-1-38-6.
 
The Taylor Cup was won by Littleborough (224 all out) who beat Bury (81 all out) in the final on 1 September. Man of the match was Gary Nash (Littleborough) with 51 and 2-14. The Under 13s played off for the Edwin Kay Cup yesterday with Rochdale scoring 91-5 (plus 2 ret) in their 20 overs but losing to Clifton (93-0 with 2 ret). The Under 15s also played off for the Ashworth Cup. Rochdale (158-5 with 1 ret) lost to Heywood (161-6 with 1 ret). Man of the match and winner of the Eric Tootell trophy was Nathan Cockroft of Heywood with 36 not out.
 
Rochdale are now First Eleven Champions. They needed to win or draw today, and as all matches were washed out they achieved sufficient points to ensure they cannot be caught.

Both the Wood Cup and Burton Cup Finals were played yesterday. In the Wood Cup Heywood (233-9) beat Unsworth (189 all out). Man of the match was Sherwin Campbell (Heywood) with 76; man of the series was Wayne Madsen (Unsworth). In the Burton Cup Littleborough (127-4) beat Walsden (123 all out). Man of the match was Tom Culshaw (Littleborough) 4-23.

The Twenty 20 Final was played today. Norden 186-7 beat Heywood 73 all out. Man of the match was Hashim Malik 3-15 and 32.

Walsden are Second Division champions for 2006. With a points total of 110 as at 27 August and 16 points clear of nearest rivals Rochdale they now cannot be caught. Heywood are Third Division champions for 2006 on 40 points, with Walsden runners-up 14 points behind.

CLL Colts are MEN champions for 2006. They beat North Lancs & Cumbria League in the Final today. North Lancs & Cumbria League were 70 all out; CLL scored 71-1. Man of the match was Dale Highton with 4-11 off 6 overs.

The Burton Cup final took place on Sunday. Littleborough (156 all out) beat Werneth (107 all out). Man of the match was Chris Dearden (Littleborough) with 50 runs and 4-15. Ian Dronsfield (Werneth) took 3-27 including a hat-trick.

The Wood Cup final took place on Sunday. Rochdale were 178 all out and Heywood won scoring 181-7. Littleborough are Whittaker Cup champions for 2006 with Walsden runners up. See Statistics page for final table.

The inaugural Twenty 20 Competition final took place last Friday and Norden won, beating Rochdale with the final score Norden 185-9 and Rochdale 85 all out.

The Twenty 20 Competition semi finals took place today and the scores were: Werneth (130-5) lost to Norden (137-7) and Rochdale (150-7) beat Littleborough (138 all out).

The Wood Cup second round took place on 2 July but bad weather caused some matches to go on into the following week. The scores were: Oldham (167 all out) lost to Rochdale (332-8); Heywood (232-2) beat Littleborough (231 all out); Monton & Weaste (298-4) lost to Milnrow (302-5) and Walsden (222-7) lost to Norden (224-4).
 
The Twenty 20 Competition quarter finals took place on 7 July and the scores were: Norden (199-5) beat Radcliffe (170 all out); Unsworth (110 all out) lost to Littleborough (111-1); Walsden (114 all out) lost to Werneth (184-5) and Royton (114 all out) lost to Rochdale (116 all out).

Littleborough, CLL's one surviving team in the quarter finals has made it through to the semi-finals of the Challenge Trophy. Littleborough (188-2) beat Ramsbottom (186 all out); East Lancs. The Wood Cup finally got under way today, the first round having been postponed from 21 May. Walsden (210-8) beat Radcliffe (208-9); Littleborough (253-8) beat Unsworth (183 all out); Oldham (163-2) beat Ashton (158 all out); Monton & Weaste (203-4) beat Middleton (199 all out); Rochdale (143-6) beat Werneth (141 all out); Royton (236 all out) lost to Milnrow (239 all out); Clifton (237-8) lost to Norden (240-6) and Heywood (142-4) beat Crompton (141 all out).

Only one CLL team has made it through to the third round of the Challenge Trophy this year, in a second round dominated by rain-affected matches and three bowl-outs. Clifton (128-7) lost to Nelson (130-6); Bacup lost to Littleborough 1-3 in a bowl-out; Werneth (142-5) lost to Church (113-9) on run-rate; Ramsbottom (67-3) beat Monton & Weaste (94 all out) on run-rate; Unsworth lost to Haslingden 0-2 in a bowl-out; Burnley (85-4) beat Accrington (84-3); Enfield beat Rawtenstall 5-4 in the other bowl-out and East Lancs. (143-3) beat Todmorden (139-7).

We welcome a new member club for the 2006 season - Clifton CC, based in Swinton and formerly in the Bolton Association. They will play in the 1st/2nd XI and also at junior level (at Under 18, Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 levels)
 
The following individual trophies have been awarded for 2005:
  • Sir Frank Worrell Trophy (amateur batsman scoring highest number of runs) - Bobby Cross of Heywood CC (1,044 runs)
  • Clifford Pickup Memorial Trophy (amateur bowler taking highest number of wickets) - Zafir Zaman of Ashton CC (64 wickets)
  • Littleborough Supporters Trophy (all rounder of the year) - Darren Shadford of Werneth CC (986 runs and 50 wickets)
  • Lal Vohra Trophy (most improved young player of the year) - Alan Durose of Werneth CC (478 runs and 63 wickets)

Heywood are John Willie Lees Wood Cup champions for 2005. They beat Monton & Weaste by 10 wickets. Man of the match was Josh Webb (Heywood) 3-16 and 29 not out. Man of the series was Bobby Cross (Heywood).

Rain stopped play in the annual friendly between CLL U18s and Lancashire League U18s at Bacup C.C. on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May. Lancashire League scored 95 all out and CLL were on 90 for 4 when the rains came, giving CLL victory on a faster run rate. Josh Webb (Heywood took 4-14 off 4.3 overs and scored 30 and Ian Helliwell (Rochdale) scored 24.

The Central Lancashire League is very pleased to accept the offer from Lake Garage (Smithybridge) Limited to sponsor the League, except the Wood Cup which continues to be sponsored by J W Lees & Co (Brewers) Limited, for the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 and during the sponsorship the League will be known as the Lake Garage Central Lancashire Cricket League. (Pages on the web site will be updated to reflect this shortly).
 
Lake Garage is based at Smithybridge Road, Littleborough, Lancs. OL15 0BQ. It is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has been a family-run concern throughout that time. The Company has been involved with the League for some years being sponsors of two clubs and Mr. Dave Rushton one of its directors being a former player in the League.
 
The John Willie Lees Wood Cup (formerly called the Lees Bitter Wood Cup) has been sponsored by J W Lees (Brewers) Limited for 21 years (which is believed to be a record period of sponsorship). The League is delighted to confirm that the Brewery has entered into a new agreement commencing in 2005 for a further four years to include the 25th anniversary of its sponsorship.
 
The Company is based at Greengate Brewery, Middleton Junction, Manchester M24 2AX and has been an independent family brewery since 1828.

League fixtures for Third Eleven added. Roydes Trophy fixtures also added. In 2005 this will be played on a league basis instead of the usual knockout method. Each club will play the others once and the two with the highest number of points at the end of the series of matches will play each other for the trophy.

The draw for the Inter League Club Challenge Trophy for 2005 took place today.
 
We welcome a new member club for the 2005 season - Monton & Weaste CC, based in Eccles and formerly in the Manchester & District Cricket Association.
 
Stand CC resigned from the League and left at the end of the 2004 season. The League is currently dealing with applications to replace them in 2006.

The Roydes Trophy 2004 was won by Heywood (156-3) who beat Unsworth (155 all out). Man of the match was Dominic Kenny (39 no & 1-37). The CLL Colts (122 all out) won the MEN Colts competition beating the Ribblesdale League Colts (84-7) at Great Harwood CC. Man of the match was Phil Hayes (Radcliffe) with 31 & 4-14.
