In a Different League by Jim Carnegie

A collection of fresh, amusing stories gathered over 50 years of playing all over England.

Jim highlights cricket's north-south divide by comparing the timed, friendly games he sauntered through in and around London in the 1960s and 70s with the somewhat more combative league battles fought out in Yorkshire and Lancashire since then. Their atmosphere has as much in common as Botham has with Boycott or Eton has with Heywood.

The Pained Willow by Derek V Parker

Description from Amazon:

"A semi-autobiographical novel, but written with a degree of literary licence. This novel tells of League cricket played in the north of England. The central character, Peter, succeeds and finally declines as a League Professional. The story of this journey is told using amusing anecdotes of his life right from childhood, through school days, his sexual exploits as a teenager and finally into a settled marriage. Through later life, his battle with authority and fondness for drink inevitably leads to his talent going to waste. Names and place names have been changed. Contains strong language."

A Lancastrian by birth, Derek has lived in the North of England all his life. He has worked in varied environments, but sport has been his main focus, both as a professional and an agent, so he understands the emotions generated by success and failure.

The book is available on Kindle from Amazon.
